From my experience Imperial’s college graduates is by far more competent in solving complex engineering problems. Cambridge and Oxford graduates require much more training in order to compete with Imperial graduates as their course is in General Engineering. In my opinion ICE and other professional institutions should insist that you should have at least 4 years studies in your subject prior to be able to be registered as a graduate enginer in the relevant descipline. Its impossible for Cambridge and Oxford to cover engineering specialization in two years.
